* PASSING OF THE PEACE

* SANCTUS (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                        Margret Dougherty
Praise be to you, O God the Father:
You created all things by your power and wisdom
and so loved the world that you gave your Son to be our
Savior.
Praise be to you, O God the Son:
You became human like us in all things, except sin,
died for our offenses, and rose again for our justification.
Praise be to you, O God the Holy Spirit:
You lead us into all truth and spread the love of God in our
hearts.

* HYMN No. 2                      Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Patient and compassionate God:
You have loved us with unfailing, self-giving mercy,
but we have not loved you.

You constantly call us, but we do not listen.

You ask us to love, but we walk away from neighbors in
need. Lord, you show us how to carry out your mission,
but we still insist on our own; forgive our lack of faith and
pardon our acts of injustice.
(Prayers of Silent Confession)
Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he
loved us, made us alive together with Christ.
By grace we have been saved!
For we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!

ANTHEM:                                  I Will Arise               Traditional melody arranged by Robert Shaw

I will arise and go to Jesus,
He will embrace me in His arms,
In the arms of my dear Saviour, Oh!
There are ten thousand charms.
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above,
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.
Come, thou font of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace,
Streams of mercy never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.

Response: Let the Words of My Mouth

Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart

O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

God, you sent your Word to bring us truth and your Spirit to

Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

SERMON Here Am I, Send Me! Rev. Karen Jackson

* CONFESSION OF FAITH:

From the Belhar Confession
We believe in the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
who gathers, protects, and cares for the church through
Word and Spirit. This, God has done since the beginning
of the world and will do to the end.
We believe in one holy, universal Christian church, the
communion of saints called from the entire human family.
Christ’s work of reconciliation is made manifest in the church as the community of believers who have been
reconciled with God and with one another.

OFFERING OURSELVES AND OUR GIFTS

Offertory:                       Once to Every Man and Nation                         David Stanley York

Once to every Man and Nation
comes the moment to decide,
In the strife of Truth with Falsehood
For the good or evil side.
By the light of burning martyrs,
Jesus' bleeding feet I track,
Toiling up new Calvaries ever
with the cross that turns not back.
Though the cause of evil prosper,
Yet 'tis truth alone is strong.
Truth forever on the scaffold,
wrong forever on the throne.
Yet the scaffold sways and future,
and behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God within the shadow,
keeping watch above his own.
Amen.
