ORDER FOR WORSHIP

PRELUDE: Movement II from Sonata IV Mendelssohn

SALUTATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

* PASSING OF THE PEACE

* GLORIA PATRI (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
there is no end to God’s greatness.
One generation shall praise your works to another
and shall declare your power.

All your works praise you, Lord,
and your faithful servants bless you.
They make known the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your power.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord:
Let all flesh bless God’s holy name for ever and ever.

* HYMN No. 618  Give to the Winds Your Fears

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, in every age you have raised up men and women
to live by faith.
Forgive our indifference to your will.
You have commanded us to speak,
but we have been silent.
You have called us to do what is just, but we have been fearful.
Have mercy on us.
Keep before us faithful people to follow so that, by the
power of your Holy Spirit, we may walk in your ways, all
the days of our lives.
(Prayers of Silent Confession)
Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he
loved us, made us alive together with Christ.
By grace we have been saved!
For we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!

ANTHEM:                        Lift Thine Eyes                                Felix Mendelssohn

Soloists - Sora Choi, Dorien Day
And Elizabeth Mahowald

Lift thine eyes,
O lift thine eyes to the mountains,
whence cometh help.
Thy help cometh from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He hath said, thy foot shall not be moved.
Thy Keeper will never slumber.

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

Guide us, O God, by your Word and Spirit, that in your light we
may see light, in your truth find freedom, and in your will
discover your peace, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Offertory:                             Psalm 100                             Felix Mendelssohn

Shout to the Lord all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness,
worship the Lord with gladness.
Come to his presence with a joyful song.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
He has made us all, not we ourselves.
We are his flock and the sheep of all his pastures.
Come to his court singing, and praising.
Enter into his gates with praise.
Give him thanks, give your praise to his name.
For the Lord is gracious, and sheds his mercy on us ever,
and sheds his mercy evermore.
