PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty and merciful God, we have erred

and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.

We have followed too much

the devices and desires of our own hearts.

We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.

O Lord, have mercy upon us.

(Prayers of Silent Confession)

Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

Hear the good news:

This saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance,

that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

He himself bore our sins

in his body on the cross,

that we might be dead to sin,

and alive to all that is good!

ANTHEM                        Ave Maria                   Jacques Arcadelt

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed, is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Pray for us sinners,
Now, and at the hour of our death,
Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

If, at times, we deny or forget you, God forgive us.

When we wash our hands of responsibility:

God forgive us.

When fear keeps us from witnessing to your truth,

or prejudice keeps us from believing it:

God forgive us.

In the bright afterglow of Easter,

our sin is exposed,

but your grace is revealed.

Tender God,

raise us in your love so that, with joy,

we may witness to Jesus Christ.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me.

Bless God’s holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquity,

Who heals all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from the pit,

Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

Who satisfies you with good as long as you live,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

ANTHEM        The Lord is My Shepherd              Howard Goodall

                       Soloist - Maureen Saepia-Chen

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want;

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leads me beside the still waters.

Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death, I fear no evil:

For you are with me, you will comfort me.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life: and I will dwell

in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayer of Illumination

O living Lord, come to us, we pray, in your risen power

and make us glad with your presence,

and so breathe your Holy Spirit into our hearts

that we may be strong to serve you

and spread abroad your good news,

for the glory of your great name. Amen.

This is the good news—

the grave is empty;

Christ is risen.

Hallelujah!

This is the good news—

the light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness can never put it out.

This is the good news—

once we were no people;

now we are God’s people.

Hallelujah!

Christ is our peace,

the indestructible peace

we now share with each other.

* HYMN No. 234                               Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty God, in raising Jesus from the grave,

you shattered the power of sin and death.

We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear,

bound by the ways that lead to death.

We overlook the poor and the hungry

and pass by those who mourn;

we are deaf to the cries of the oppressed

and indifferent to calls for peace;

we despise the weak

and abuse the earth you made.

Forgive us, God of mercy.

(Prayers of Silent Confession)

Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ANTHEM:                                                                     Donald Fishel

Alleluia! Give Thanks to the Risen Lord

Alleluia, alleluia, shout for joy loud and long;

alleluia, alleluia, sing to God a glorious new song.

Alleluia, alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord,

alleluia, alleluia! Give praise to his name!

Jesus is Lord of all the earth.

He is the King of creation.

Alleluia, alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord,

alleluia, alleluia! Give praise to his name!

Spread the good news o'er all the earth;

Jesus has died and has risen!

We have been crucified with Christ.

Now we shall live forever.

Come, let us praise the living God,

joyfully sing to the Savior.

Alleluia, alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord,

alleluia, alleluia! Give praise to his name!

Alleluia, alleluia, sing to God a glorious new song.

Prayer of Illumination

God of life, your Spirit raised Jesus from dead.

Your Spirit inspired the prophets and writers of Scripture.

Your Spirit draws us to Christ and stirs up faith within us.

We ask that you will send your Spirit now to give us deeper insight, encouragement, faith, and hope

through the proclamation of the Easter gospel. Amen.
