* CALL TO WORSHIP         Elizabeth Mahowald

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God.

It is God who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to God; bless God’s name.

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

* HYMN No. 317                  All People That on Earth Do Dwell

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty and merciful God,

we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.

You alone know how often we have sinned

in wandering from your ways,

in wasting your gifts,

in forgetting your love.

(Silent Prayers of Confession)

Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

SUMMARY OF THE LAW

Herein is wisdom.

Glory be to God.

* Gloria Patri (pew card)

JUNIOR SERMON

ANTHEM:                    I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes        Leo Sowerby

                                       Sora Choi, soloist

I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and Earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:

He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

My Help cometh from the Lord; He will not slumber.

The Lord is thy keeper; thy shade upon thy right hand.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, not the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil, He shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in

from this time forth, and even forever more. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Lord’s Prayer (pew card)

Response:

Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee;

He never will suffer the righteous to fall: he is at thy right hand.

Thy mercy, Lord is great and far above the heavens:

Let none be made ashamed that wait upon thee.

* HYMN No. 593                                                The Gift of Love

Prayer of Illumination

Grant to us your Holy Spirit,

that in these words of Holy Scripture

our hearts might be lifted up

and our minds set on heavenly realities,

that contemplating Jesus, our Good Shepherd,

we might long to be with him

and enter into the joy of his eternal kingdom.

Amen.

* CONFESSION OF FAITH:

Based on Belgic Confession, Article 26

We believe that we have no access to God except through the one and only mediator and intercessor, Jesus Christ

Although he was in the company of God, Christ nevertheless emptied himself, taking human form and the form of a slave for us.

For neither in heaven nor among the creatures on earth is there anyone who loves us more than Jesus Christ does.
