SALUTATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

* PASSING OF THE PEACE

* GLORIA PATRI (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP Ray Durney

It is good to praise the LORD
and make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night.
This is the day the LORD has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

* HYMN No. 568 Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.
For the times we have not kept our promises:forgive us.
For the times we have reneged on our vows:forgive us.
For the times we have not let our yes be yes and our no be
no: forgive us.

For the times when we are afraid to give our word, share our
dreams, and speak our hopes: forgive us.

(Prayers of Silent Confession)

Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation:
everything old has passed away; see, everything has
become new!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through
Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
So then we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is
making his appeal through us. Therefore, we regard no
one from a human point of view.

ANTHEM:                 The Twenty-third Psalm               Malotte

(Emerson Chen, Soloist)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever, and evermore.

SALUTATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

* PASSING OF THE PEACE

* SANCTUS (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP Heather Allison

As we are called into worship today,
it is sobering to remember
that when God appeared on earth in the person of Jesus,
most of the world did not recognize him.
Today we ask for the faith that will open our eyes
to see Jesus for who he is,
that we might worship him in truth.
People of God, behold and see your God!
We open our eyes to see his glory.
We open our ears to hear his wisdom.
We open our hands to offer him gifts.
We open our mouths to sing his praise.
We open our hearts to offer him our love.
He is Lord!

* HYMN No. 381 Come, Ye Thankful People, Come

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God,
our sins are too heavy to carry,
too real to hide, and too deep to undo.
Forgive what our lips tremble to name,
what our hearts can no longer bear,
and what has become for us
a consuming fire of judgment.
Set us free from a past that we cannot change;
open to us a future in which we can be changed;
and grant us grace to grow more and more in
your likeness and image;
through Jesus Christ, the light of the world.Amen.
(Prayers of Silent Confession)
Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

Here the good news!
Who is in a position to condemn?
Only Christ, and Christ rose for us,
Christ reigns in power for us,
Christ prays for us.
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.
The old life has gone; a new life has begun.
Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace.
Amen.

ANTHEM: Be Not Afraid Craig Courtney

Be not afraid: for I have redeemed you;
Be not afraid: I have called you by name.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
When you pass through the floods,
they will not sweep over you;
when you walk through the fire,
you will not be consumed;
you are mine,
you are precious in my sight.
My love for you is everlasting,
My love for you shall have no end.

give us grace to love and serve you,
living what we pray and sing.

* HYMN No. 365 Abide with Me

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

nourish us today in the ways of eternal life.
Through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven.Amen.

* CONFESSION OF FAITH:

Section of the Nicene Creed:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord, you are a God who keeps promises.
In our prayers and songs we say
that we want to be Christians,

we hurt their feelings,
we think of ourselves first,

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he
loved us, made us alive together with Christ.
By grace we have been saved!
For we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!

ANTHEM: Youth Choir                A Family Song             Joseph M. Martin

Sing a song for family, a gift from God's own heart.
For parents who have loved you, and gave your life its start.
For brothers and for sisters, for dear ones near and far;
I will sing a song to tell them just how wonderful they are.
Thank you, God, for family, a gift so rich and fair.
Precious are the moments, the years we have to share.
All along life's journey, no matter where we go,
We will always treasure the memories of home.
Families all are different, just look around and see.
Love is the true measure of who is family.
So, whether it's a parent, a teacher or a friend,
We can all be family, sharing love that never ends.
A love that never ends.
