Music is a vital part of the Ministries of The Church on the Hill.  Our weekly services of worship are greatly enhanced by the leadership of our choirs.  The facilities of our Music Ministries are first rate.  Our instruments include a beautiful four-manual Allen organ, three grand pianos, a Zuckermann harpsichord, handbells, handchimes and other instruments.

Our facilities include a beautiful chancel Choir Loft, a Music Room and library, a Handbell Room, and a Robing Room.  We invite your participation in our ministries as a member of our choirs, as a listener to our choirs, and as a supporter of our Ministry of Music.  The ongoing Ministry of Music is funded by the church's annual budget, as well as the Music Fund, an escrow account that receives donations throughout the year from many members and friends of The Church on the Hill.

THE SENIOR CHOIR provides music for nearly all of our services of worship.  Its membership includes people from all walks of life, with a range of musical backgrounds from "nearly none" to professional singers.  The Senior Choir is entirely volunteer and presently numbers thirty-eight.  We are truly blessed as a congregation by the commitment of time and talent of this choir.  Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at eight o'clock.  All members and friends of our church in grade ten through adult are welcomed to join with us.

THE YOUTH HANDBELL CHOIR-  All youth in grades seven through twelve are invited.

THE JUNIOR CHOIR rehearses in the Music Room on Wednesday afternoons at 5:15PM.  All children in grades three through six are encouraged to attend.

THE CHERUB CHOIR  all children age four through second grade are invited to our Cherub Choir program.  This is our "training" group for the Junior Choir.

The Organ Console

In January of 1993, the decision was made by the Consistory of The Church on the Hill to engage in a drive to fund a new organ and renovated chancel for our Sanctuary.  Two months later a contract was signed with the Allen Organ Company of Macungie, Pennsylvania.  The renovation of the Chancel took place in July and August, and in early September the new organ was installed and dedicated to the Glory of God.

The result of this project was a beautiful Chancel and choir loft, keeping the appearance of the previous Chancel, but with expanded floor space, oak parquet floors, a newly designed and enlarged choir loft, and a four manual digital, state-of-the-art organ.

The organ is actually two organs, a four manual instrument in the front of the church and a two manual in the rear gallery.  Both instruments are played from a large four manual console in Chancel in the front of the church.  Whereas the previous organ that had served the church since 1932 was extremely limited in its tonal resources, those of the new organ are almost limitless.  It is the largest installation by the Allen Organ Company in New York, and it is scaled and voiced for the size and nature of our Sanctuary.

The addition of the new organ in 1993 brought with it a "whole new world" of excitement and beauty for our worship experiences.  It is capable of playing literature for the organ of all periods, and provided a rebirth in the areas of choral leadership and congregational singing.
